Supporting Neurodiverse Children with Anxiety in Primary Schools
Participants will explore:
- A brief introduction to neurodiversity and anxiety and how developmental needs shape emotional and behavioural responses
- Understanding root causes of anxiety, including sensory overload, uncertainty, and social communication barriers
- Whole‑class approaches to sensory processing and regulation to reduce stress and support all learners
- Using visuals, structure, and predictability to create calm, supportive learning environments
- How communication and social interaction relate to anxiety, and ways to support children safely
- A relationships‑first approach that prioritises co‑regulation, trust, and emotional safety

This course is ideal for staff working with children academically functioning within the primary phase (ages 5–11), Primary teachers, SENCOs, Teaching Assistants/LSAs, Inclusion Leads, pastoral staff, and anyone supporting neurodiverse children with anxiety, sensory processing needs, or communication differences
