Rowan Gate Awarded School Games Gold Mark
For the second year in succession, Rowan Gate has been awarded the coveted School Games Gold Mark – the national bench mark for the quality of P.E. and Sport in schools.
The award is testament to the hard work of all the staff and the commitment Rowan Gate has demonstrated in the development of competition, school sport and physical education.
Highlights of the year include more pupils being engaged in extracurricular sports clubs, including being a Hub for Inclusive Football; a wide range of sports teams taking part in School Games level 2 and Level 3 competitions; the Sports Crew helping decide upon and delivering sport in the school.
The Mark was created by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and launched in June 2012. The criteria are set by Sport England and the Youth Sports Trust to assess criteria across participation, competition, workforce and clubs. The School Games Mark is an annual award and must be reapplied for each year.
