Monthly Archives: March 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to let you know how our school will be responding to the Government request to make childcare arrangements for some children during this Coronavirus period.
We have had to make some very difficult decisions, and have started with the advice that ‘the majority of children will be safer at home’. Many of you have decided to shield your child from the virus by doing this, and we are supporting your decisions. You do not need to be worried about attendance monitoring.
Our school will be closed to ALL CHILDREN AND STAFF NEXT WEEK. This is to enable us to undertake chemical deep cleaning of the schools.
From 30th March, we will open childcare facilities to parents who are in the category of KEYWORKERS ONLY. You will have been called today to establish if you fall into this category.
The childcare will open on the Wellingborough site only and if you wish to use the facility, you will be able to drop your child off at 9am, collecting again at 3pm. At this stage it has not been possible to organise transport.
From 6th April, we will open childcare facilities to a slightly larger group of children. You will be contacted during the week beginning 30th March to organise this if it has been agreed today. It is important to understand that this is not an education based facility – our aim is for the children who are here to be having fun and enjoying their time here. They will not be in their usual classrooms or with the same staff.
The children in receipt of Free School Meals will receive vouchers for you to spend as you wish. This does not apply to children in receipt of Universal Infant Free School Meals- it is only for families who are eligible due to financial circumstances.
I am sure that you will appreciate that this is an extraordinary time, and that we are all feeling anxious. I trust that you will understand that we have based our response on the safety and well-being of our pupils and families.
I will be available to answer any questions on my email address – email@example.com
I would like to thank the wonderful staff for their dedication and support to enable us to keep going, and provide services to our pupils.
I send you all my very best wishes,
Here is an important letter for parents and carers –
You can find various ideas, websites and learning activities under “Childrens Area” on the top tab.
Dear Parent/Carer 16 March 2020
Response to Coronavirus
I am writing to update you about the precautions we are taking to reduce the exposure of the young people in our care to the Coronavirus.
Following the DfE guidelines, and taking into consideration the vulnerability of some of our pupils and staff we have, with immediate effect;
- Cancelled all off-site visits and trips, including swimming on and off site.
- Stopped access to the school for external meetings
- Reduced access to the school for visitors – only allowing essential services such as School Nurses to be on site.
- Cancelled all lettings of the premises
We have also;
- Postponed next week’s Parents Evening (Tuesday 24 March)
- Cancelled all external work and volunteer placements
- Stopped our staff transferring between sites.
- Arranged for the children to eat their lunch in their classrooms and have arranged for playtimes to be staggered.
- Cancelled all assemblies and school council meetings
- Postponed staff training
- Postponed the Book fayre (end of this week/beginning of next)
We have completed individual risk assessments for the care of our most vulnerable pupils and staff and are in the process of preparing school work for all pupils in the event of closure.
We have no confirmed cases. Two members of our staff are in precautionary self-isolation.
We are asking for parents help with the following:
Children should wash their hands:
- Before leaving home
- After using the toilet
- After breaks and sporting activities
- Before food preparation
- Before eating any food, including snacks
- Encourage your child to avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands
At the current time, Parents should not come into the school building. Our staff will meet parents outside to receive and hand over the children.
We are not planning on closing unless directed by the Department for Education or the local situation changes. If you have any concerns about your child attending school, please contact a member of the Senior Leadership Team to discuss.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by email –
