20th January 2016

Two teams from Peaches class competed in the Sainsbury’s School Games, Level 2, Project Ability Boccia competition at the Corby Business Academy.

Boccia comprises players who sit and try to get a ball as close to the jack (white ball) as possible. Points are awarded for the nearest ball. There were also teams from Hall Meadow, Kettering Park, Oakley Vale, Studfall, Little Stanion, Woodnewton and Beanfiled.

Such was the number of teams that the competition was split into 3 pools. Along with Woodnewton and Little Stanion, Rowan Gate won through to the competition final.

The final was very close with each team winning 1 game in a round-robin format. After then counting the number of points scored, the winners were Little Stanion.

By reaching the final, Rowan Gate were the highest placed team from Wellingborough and East Northants and will now represent them at the Northamptonshire Winter School Games in February.
