Strawberries Class Achieve Arts Award

Art Award Discover

We are delighted to inform you that each member of Strawberries class achieved their Arts Award Discover through all their participation in drama, music, and visits from external artists such as Blunderbus Theatre Company.

Rowan Gate is the first school in Northamptonshire to achieve this award with pupils who have profound and multiple learning disabilities, and 1 of only 9 special schools in the U.K to achieve this award….that’s including secondary schools!!!

Sports Day on 12 July changed

Due to the lovely hot weather we have been having, we have decided to change Sports Day – simply because the children have to walk to Friars, compete for 2 hours and then walk back to school and it was felt that this was too much for the children.

Sports Day has been re-organised into smaller events at Rowan Gate on our Multi Use Games Area.  See attached letter for when your child’s class is taking part:

No Holidays in Term time

Government Changes to the Law in September 2013 will result in Schools not being able to grant holidays in term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

If you take a holiday without the school’s permission or if your child fails to return by the agreed date, this will be recorded as unauthorised absence and noted on your child’s records. If your child has not returned within 10 days of the expected date of return, then the school may take your child off roll, after consultation with the Local Authority.

The school may also ask the Education Welfare Service to consider a Penalty Notice. The Penalty Notice is £50 if paid within 28 days or £100 if paid after 28 days but within 42 days. If you do not pay a Penalty Notice, you will be prosecuted in Court.
